“Our original systems were based on the traditional blue screen technology with simple menus, customised to suit many of our requirements. However, as a company involved in the graphics business, we realised that we had to upgrade and develop. As one of Turnkey’s first Navision customers back in 1996, we followed something of a learning curve with them and, as they had been the designers of our previous systems, we were happy to trust to their expertise.
Most importantly for us, the system delivered our key requirement. We needed the ability to track jobs through our production process and ensure that any member of staff could tell any customer at any time exactly what stage his or her order had reached. Customer focus is our number one priority and, because of Navision’s customisable nature and Turnkey’s skills, we got a system that delivered to our exact specification.
The system has been further developed over the years in areas such as Human Resources and Electronic POS, and we’re now in the process of upgrading to the latest release. We’re keen to take advantage of the new functionality but we also want to retain the benefits that our developments have provided.
In our view, every business is different but with Navision and a good partner the key business requirements should be deliverable.”

“Having had our previous system for over 10 years, we had grown used to its drawbacks and its benefits. With our new system, we wanted to retain the benefits and overcome the drawbacks. We were initially a bit surprised to find that although there were many great new features in Navision, things we had assumed would be available weren’t there as standard.
However, the beauty of Navision, and working with a partner who fully understands the product, is that these things can be, and were, quickly addressed. We’ve had some great new benefits as well. When processing quotations, we now have the ability to look back at previous quotations and the last price we paid, immediately see the impact on margins from offering price discounts and e-mail or fax the quote off immediately. Payment routines, VAT returns and so forth are all much quicker to generate, and we know that any changes required can be made quickly and, unless they represent a new development area, are covered by our support agreement. The next phase will be extending the solution to our website.
We also have a total support agreement in place covering our hardware, networking infrastructure and Navision software – all managed by Turnkey. A ‘one-stop-shop’ solution which means there are no fingers being pointed between various suppliers when any problems arise.
So, we achieved what we wanted – a much improved solution which retained the things we had grown to rely on. I would recommend anyone to look at Navision and Turnkey but remember – don’t assume that just because you have an older system, the features you have will be available in a modern Windows solution.”
